Licensing Manager – Detroit – $75k to $100k

Our client, an international leader in trademark licensing, seeks a Licensing Manager to join its growing Detroit office. The selected individual will assist in the development, recommendation and execution of assigned clients’ licensing strategies.  Specifically the position will plan and direct efforts to identify licensing opportunities and orchestrate the outbound licensing of clients’ proprietary trademarks and intellectual properties using consumer and cultural trend insights to accurately assess potential partnerships. The process includes recommending categories / products to be licensed, direct the development of licensing deals, and personally close agreements.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify and pursue licensing opportunities across multiple product categories, focusing on outbound licensing efforts.
  • Recommend, pitch, evaluate & negotiate deals with potential licensees.
  • Develop plans to maximize licensing revenue for each assigned client and prioritize properties within each client’s portfolio.
  • Identify new product categories for licensing opportunities and potential partners to evaluate within each category.
  • Compose annual forecast for licensing revenue for each client incorporating new business potential and existing partners
  • Establish and cultivate relationships with key licensing partners; attend trade shows to establish/nurture relationships with potential licensees.
  • Prepare presentations utilizing market data for review and approval by internal agency and client management for external pitches to key partners.
  • Negotiate key business terms with Licensees and work with Legal team of both the agency and client to incorporate terms into contracts.
  • Ensure that licensing deals are carried out according to agency and client specifications and processes.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • A minimum of 5 to 7 years working within an advertising/marketing agency with direct face to face client experience, Prefer a minimum of 3 years experience in outbound and/or inbound licensing development and/sales.
  • Outstanding communications skills; verbal, written, presentation
  • Demonstrated experience creating and delivering persuasive brand presentations to clients and potential licensing partners
  • The conceptual ability to conceive of new categories and product lines for clients’ licensing efforts
  • Experience in negotiating contracts and closing deals
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and comfortable presenting to large groups.
  • Computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
