“How World War I Created the Modern Middle East” – Granville Historical Society March 25th Presentation

Granville Historical Society’s lecture, “How World War I Created the Modern Middle East,” will be presented by Dr. Reed Browning on Wednesday, March 25th at 7:00 PM at the The Granville Historical Museum.

The focus of the presentation will be the post-WWI settlement imposed by the European powers, chiefly Britain, on the former Ottoman area. Dr. Browning will show how an understanding of this settlement is critical to understanding the region today.

The GHS “History as Background” lecture series are programs of 45 to 50 minutes in length followed by questions. The periods covered in these lectures generally end by 1990 to avoid partisanship and politicization of discussion and fulfill the mission of the program to provide general background.
